My realization that photography can be fine art came gradually, beginning long ago when a friend, a photographer for and in the Navy, stationed at USNOTS in California, showed me prints of fantastic photos he had shot of the neighboring Sierra Nevada. I thought the reason they were so good was because he had the use of excellent, state-of-the-art equipment. Since then I have come to realize that, although it is good to have fine equipment, it is the skill, talent, imagination, inspiration, and creativity of the photographer that produce memorable images.
For those who might ask: Yes, for awhile, I was stationed at U.S. Naval Ordinance Testing Station (USNOTS) in the Mohave Desert, near Inyokern, CA. I was a Aviation Electronics Technician.
I hope you enjoy browsing through my images.
Best wishes, John Foote
